Self Reflection
Overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed this class and the
assignments that we are given every week. I genuinely feel as though, through
this class, I have greatly improved my writing skills. Now, I think that this
enhancement of my skills is for several reasons, the first being that I have
never really had to write for other people. The blogging aspect of this class
has forced me to try to view my writing from the perspective of my classmates. Knowing
that my writing has the potential to be seen, not only by myself and my
professor(s), but also multiple other students has added multiple steps to my
writing process. The fact that my writing Is put on display for multiple people
to read has made me much more conscious of my diction, including imagery and
coming off in a manner that truly shows my understanding of the material. While
this is something that I ordinarily make sure to do when completing a writing assignment,
I have never had to do it to the same extent since starting this class. This
skill is one that I know I will carry for the rest of my days, as I have truly come
to acknowledge the importance of having clean and legible writing. The second
major skill that I have developed and enhanced since starting this class is my
comprehension and application of critical analysis. Through the assignments the
past few weeks that have required us to pick a piece of artwork from artists
during the Enlightenment, Romanticism and Modernism era, I have found that I
really enjoy analyzing artwork and pieces of literature. This is something that
I have never really had to do in the past, but I find that it gives me a much
deeper appreciation of the art than I would have otherwise. Like I stated
earlier in this paragraph, this skill is one that I will carry with me for the
rest of my life, as it is one that I find to be extremely important and valuable,
far beyond being just a useful skill for a college writing class.
