Nonfiction Literature About the Arts
To be completely honest, I have not
done much research about works of nonfiction relating to the arts. Nonfiction
has never really been a genre of writing that has resonated with me, so I do
not read many works in that area. That being said, there are some things in
particular that I would look for when attempting to find a piece of nonfiction
literature relating to artists or artwork. Ideally, I would want to find an author
that genuinely knew what they were talking about. I would have to do some
research about the author of the work to ensure that the information I will be receiving
is accurate and helpful when I need to recall it at a later point. I would also
make sure that the book, article, magazine story, or whatever the piece of
literature may be, was from a reputable source that is known for having authors
that knowledgeable on the topics they discuss. I would be much less inclined to
read a nonfiction piece of literature from a website that I had never heard of
or a publishing company that I could not find any reviews for than I would be
if I found an article from Time.com or a book published by a well established
company. When looking for a nonfiction work, using one’s own judgement is key.
One must do research of their own to know that their source is accurate and knowledgeable
in the subject they are discussing.
